Self-Study Module: Patient Adherence to Tuberculosis Treatment

Patient Adherence to Tuberculosis Treatment is one module of a CDC self-study course on tuberculosis, incorporating didactic features such as animations, study questions, case studies, and links to other TB-related sites, that is available online or as a downloadable PDF file. As one might expect from the CDC, the module is thorough and clear, if somewhat dry.

The course is particularly strong on basics, including the definitions of terms such as “adherence,” “directly observed therapy for latent TB infection (LTBI),” and “behavioral diagnosis.” The content also has the advantage of being official policy.

Beyond the basic information, however, are sections I would not have anticipated but have obvious utility in real world clinical situations. For example,

  • Working with an Interpreter
  • Improving Adherence with Children and Adolescents
  • Legal Remedies
